Summer Student Position

The Library is looking for a creative, enthusiastic student who thrives on challenge and enjoys working with children to take on the role of Summer Programs Coordinator. This full-time, contract position runs from early May to the end of August and is supported by funding from Young Canada Works and Canada Summer Jobs. Application deadline is March 20.

Join local author U.W. Baker as she discusses her new novel “Shades of Betrayal”. The novel was inspired by her mother’s wedding dress made from a WWII parachute and brings to light WWII history of Eastern Europe.

Bike Maintenance and Repair

Join staff from Bikeface Cycling as they teach us how to ready our bikes for the season and perform basic maintenance and repairs. This is a watch, learn and ask event, do not bring your own bike to the program. Open to all ages.

View two locally produced climate action films: "Resilience: Transforming Our Community", a climate change film of hope and action and "Warming Stripes: Weaving the Weather", an inspiring  project about local weather changes from 1880 – the present. Meet the film director, scientist and weaver and find out about climate action in Grey Bruce. Film screening organized by Earth Day Grey Bruce.

2023 Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival - Call for Submissions!

Attention young filmmakers: we want your films! Short animated or live action films of a maximum of 10 minutes in length from students in grades 7 through 12 are eligible. Interested teens can pick up an application form from their public library.

Escape Room – Magician’s Lair

Designed for preschool students with tools and content that reinforces early childhood curriculum. From the trusted publishers at World Book, discover games, videos, stories and learning activities to support reading instruction in a fun way.

Decodable Books

Beginning in March, decodable books will be available in the children’s easy reader collection. Decodable books are a great tool for new or struggling readers and readers with dyslexia. These books focus on phonics and word families to improve reading fluency and word recognition. Look for the red sticker on the spine or ask staff for assistance.

Stop Motion Workshop

Youth Services are offering book bundles for parents and kids for pickup. Bundles will have an assortment of 10 books that can be both customized or pre-selected by staff. Be sure to include your child’s age and interests to help us find your next great read!

Kids and Caregivers Book Club

Our book club for kids in grades 4-6 and their caregivers continues on the last Thursday of the month on Zoom until April. Register by the first of the month, pick up a copy of the title, read with your caregiver or independently, and join our lively discussion group!

New Hours at Tom Thomson Art Gallery

Tom Thomson Art Gallery will be extending their open hours. Tuesday - Friday 12-5pm and Saturday from 10am-5pm. They will also be open in the mornings by appointment.
On the first Wednesday of each month the Gallery will be open 12-7pm.
