Over the years, thousands of episodes of the Georgian Bay Explorer were aired on Bayshore Broadcasting's CFOS radio station, delighting listeners with a daily account of heritage and culture of the region.

Memory kits contain books, games, puzzles, and other items to encourage social engagement for those with cognitive impairment (including dementia) and their care partners. 

The activities in the kits are intended to spark discussion, stimulate memories and encourage communication.

Poet Laureate Announcement

We thank the Poet Laureate selection committee for their hard work. They received a number of worthy submissions from our community. In March, 
we will be announcing our new Poet Laureate for 2024-25.

The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library hosts the Poet Laureate program with funding from several members of the community. 

The Poet Laureate’s honorarium and other expenses for the current term are covered by donations from 
Pat Lorenzo and Phillip Faulkner
(in memory of Andrew Armitage, former Library CEO) and Cathy Huntley.

For many years, Bob Knapp along with his wife Marie visited Guatemala. He climbed volcanoes, visited coffee plantations, hospitals for the poor, and Mayan ruins.

He worked on local community projects and visited the famous Guatemalan city dump.

Guatemala is a beautiful country. Visiting and getting to know some of the people was very enriching. He is happy to share memories of this extraordinary time in his life with photos and commentary.

Reading Buddies earn community involvement hours by helping children in grades 1 - 5 improve their literacy skills weekly during the summer. Volunteers must complete a brief interview and training.
