As one of the oldest camera clubs in Ontario, they have been meeting to share their love of photography for over 65 years!

Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival
Submission Deadline: Friday, May 9
 
The public libraries of Grey and Bruce counties are seeking submissions of films for the 14th Annual Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival! A screening of selected students’ films will take place at the Galaxy Cinemas in Owen Sound on June 18, and filmmakers will have a chance to win cash prizes.

Book Sale

Fill a bag for $3 or $5 at the May book sale!
 
Drop in to browse and buy. Nearly new, used, paperbacks, fiction, non-fiction, young adult, children’s books, DVDs available!
Cash, debit and credit cards accepted. Please help out by bringing your own shopping bag.
Reading Buddies - 2 Great Programs!
Application Deadline: Friday, June 6
 
In addition to the standard Reading Buddies this summer, the Library will be offering an English Language Learner Reading Buddies program, specifically designed to support children with their English language acquisition. Families can register children in grades 1-6 into the program stream that best suits their needs.
 
The Library is also seeking Reading Buddies mentors to work one-on-one with the children. High school students and adults are invited to volunteer for these programs and help children to build their reading confidence in weekly sessions through July and August.

Extinctopedia–A Discovery of What We Have Lost, What is at Risk, and What To Do About it with Smithsonian Scientists

Extinctopedia tells a complex story, not just of those who are extinct but also of those in greatest peril, with explanations of what threatens their survival. It is also a story of hope—hopes for animals that have been rediscovered, hope in the form of newly-discovered animals, and hope that we might hear the warning call and act to preserve the amazing biodiversity of our fragile planet for future generations to come.
