Lunar New Year Celebration
Saturday, February 21
 
In Youth Services, drop in to learn how to write your name using Chinese characters with May Ip from 11:00am–1:00pm and various crafts and activities from 11:00am–2:00pm.
 
Adults and seniors are invited to join May Ip, of the Grey Bruce Chinese Heritage and Culture Association for Qigong from 2:00-3:30pm in the Auditorium. Qigong is a traditional Chinese practice combining movement, breathing, and meditation for wellbeing. 
Art Banners on Display in Carnegie
On display until April 30th
 
The Library is pleased to host the Art Banner Exhibit which showcases local and international  artists and artisans.  This project is curated by the Urban Easel, a program of the Owen Sound Art Council. During the summer, the banners can be seen when walking along the Owen Sound Harbour. 
Winter Reading Challenges
Adults and children can take part in separate reading challenges at the Library this winter. Read books for a chance to win fun prizes! For more details visit the Library’s Information or Youth Services desks.

Poet Laureate: Rebecca Diem Ends Term
The Library would like to extend our gratitude to Rebecca Diem for her excellent work as Poet Laureate during her 2024-2025 term. Thank you for sharing your poems and inspiring others to write and create.
 
Rebecca’s honorarium and other expenses were generously covered by donations from Cathy Huntley, Phillip Faulkner, Pat Lorenzo and David Madill, CFP of BMO Nesbitt Burns.

March Break Programs: Coming Soon!
We are planning so many fun programs for youth this March Break! Let’s get creative and keep our brains busy with tech, crafts, LEGO, and even an escape room! 
 
Registration is required for many of the March Break programs. Watch for the March Break schedule coming February 16. Registration starts March 2.   
Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival: Call for Submissions
Deadline: Friday, May 8, 2026
 
Attention young filmmakers! The libraries of Bruce and Grey counties want your films for the Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival. Short animated or live action films of a maximum of 10 minutes in length from students in grades 7 through 12 are eligible.
 
Interested teens can pick up an application form from their public library or email kmcleish@library.osngupl.ca for more information.
Owen Sound Mini Con: Call for Artist's Alley Exhibitors
We’re looking for artists to showcase their work at the 2026 Owen Sound Mini Con.
 
If you’re an artist who creates comics or fandom related content, we’d like to invite you to join us!
Complete the Exhibitor Application form and submit it for consideration by April 3.
